Metallic skeletal pins and wires - Requirements

Normative References

ISO 5838-1: Implants for surgery – Metallic skeletal pins and wires – Part 1: General requirements

ISO 6892-1: Metallic materials – Tensile testing – Part 1: Method of test at room temperature

This test standard specifies the general requirements for metallic skeletal pins and wires for use in bone surgery, excluding wires for binding and twisting.
Furthermore, according to ISO 6892-1, a static tensile test is required.
An electromechanical load frame equipped with a non-contacting video extensometer is used for tensile testing.
