Hardness of ceramics

ISO 14705: Fine ceramics (advanced ceramics, advanced technical ceramics) – Test method for hardness of monolithic ceramics at room temperature

EN 843-4 provides three test methods to determine the hardness of ceramic materials: Vickers, Knoop and Rockwell. All three methods use an indenter to apply localized plastic deformation. The point of indentation is measured and hardness values are calculated.

Due to the brittle behavior of ceramic materials, an experienced user of the standard is needed to obtain reliable results. Due to years of experience we are proud to provide this expertise.
